Nepal Women's Football Team Shines in Historic Victory Over Laos

Kathmandu. The Nepali women’s national football team delivered a remarkable performance in their opening match of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers, securing a dominant 9-0 win against Laos in Uzbekistan. The match also marked Nepal’s 100th international fixture.
Nepal led 2-0 at halftime and added seven more goals in the second half, showcasing their strength and coordination on the field.
Captain Sabitra Bhandari, popularly known as ‘Samba’, led by example, netting five goals in a standout performance. She is the 11th player to captain the national women’s team.
Contributions also came from Anita Basnet, Anita KC, Saru Limbu, and Rashmi Kumari Ghising, who each scored a goal to complete the tally.
Nepal is placed in Group F alongside hosts Uzbekistan, Laos, and Sri Lanka.
